Where the Santa Fe Compact70 has the edge
1. It is physically more compact
The Compact70 measures 12 × 12 × 21 inches. AprilAire lists the E070 at 12.5 × 12.5 × 25 inches. Four inches of depth can matter in a cramped crawl space, especially when you also need room for filters, drain tubing and duct connections.
2. Santa Fe publishes unusually useful sizing context
Santa Fe currently separates its Compact70 crawl-space coverage by sealing: up to 2,600 sq. ft. when tightly sealed, 2,200 sq. ft. when moderately sealed and 1,800 sq. ft. when loosely sealed. That is more useful than a single maximum coverage number because air leakage changes the moisture load.
3. Better published filtration specification
The Compact70 uses a MERV-13 filter plus a washable pre-filter. The E070 uses a washable MERV 8 filter. Filtration is a secondary buying factor, but it is a real specification difference between these two units.
4. More transparent lower-temperature performance data

AprilAire publishes coverage up to 2,200 sq. ft. for the E070. A 1,500 sq. ft. crawl space therefore sits comfortably below that manufacturer maximum, although humidity, sealing and temperature still matter.
